Letting Go A couple of years ago, I had to sell my family home—the house my sister and I grew up in. Deciding to let go of our family home in Kolkata wasn’t easy. It felt like saying goodbye to a part of myself. On someone’s suggestion, I decided to create a video documenting the house, the lives, and then moments we shared there as a family. Through this process, I found a way to channel my feelings into something meaningful. Documenting it helped me honour the memories, acknowledge the change, and, ultimately, move forward. The journey was bittersweet but also incredibly healing. If you’ve ever faced the tug-of-war between holding on and letting go, my hope is that this will resonate with you. Watch the trailer here: https://lnkd.in/e7MJ8vxp. To my joy and surprise, our work was screened at more than five film festivals across the country in the documentary section. More surprisingly, it won awards at a couple of them. What has been even more gratifying is the feedback we’ve received from family, friends, and the audience in general. What started as a deeply personal project has grown into something that resonated with so many people. I can’t end this post without thanking my partners in this endeavour: my co-creator, Plaban Bhattacharya, and my sister, Sulagna Basu. It was a pleasure working with Plaban, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with someone who brought so much passion, creativity, and insight to the table. My sister, of course, has been and will continue to be a part of my larger journey, but this project would not have been possible without her support. This experience has shown me how powerful stories can be—not just for personal reflection but for connecting with others on a much deeper level. I’m beyond grateful for the recognition, but most of all, for the journey itself. #FamilyMemories #Documentary #PersonalJourney #PowerOfStories
