Research fellows Arthur Schram and Giorgia Romagnoli (University of Amsterdam - Amsterdam School of Economics) have been awarded with an Open Competition SSH L grant of € 798,000 by the NWO (Dutch Research Council). Their project 'The Hidden Reach of War: Understanding Conflict Spillovers, Social Trust, and Paths to Reconciliation' studies how wars such as those in Ukraine and Gaza affect trust, cooperation, and polarization in countries not directly involved. Using experiments, surveys, and social media analysis, it examines how people form beliefs about institutions and other groups when exposed to distant conflict.
