Prof. Devrim Gözüaçık is one of the Speakers of GalenDays’26 Resume 📑 Koç University School of Medicine, Department of Medical Biology and KUTTAM Translational Research Center, Istanbul, Türkiye. Professor Gozuacik obtained his MD degree from Hacettepe School of Medicine, his MS degree of Biochemistry from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris and his PhD degree on cancer cell biology from Pasteur Institute and INEM, Paris. Then, he moved to the Weizmann Institute of Science for his postdoctoral studies on cancer-cell death connections. In 2006, he was appointed as a Research Professor in Sabanci University, and in 2020 in Koç University School of Medicine. He holds a Senior Researcher in Koç University Research Center for Translational Medicine (KUTTAM) and has a part-time position in SUNUM Center. Prof. Gozuacik serves as a Board of Directors Member of KUTTAM and Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Centers, as a Board Member of International Cell Death Society and as an Advisory Board Member of AIM Center, NM, USA. He also serves as the Associate Editor of the Autophagy journal and Molecular Oncology journal and as an editorial board member and referee for other prominent journals. Prof. Gozuacik is a recipient of several scientific awards, including EMBO-SDIG Award, TGC Sedat Simavi Award, TÜBA-GEBİP Award, IKU Onder Oztunali Award and Elginkan Technology Award and TÜBİTAK Science Award in Health Sciences. He is the author of >100 publications that received >25.000 citations (H-factor: 44). Dr Gozuacik’s research focuses on the study of basic autophagy signaling in mammalian cells and autophagy abnormalities in human diseases, especially in cancer.
