Assoc. Prof. Duygu Sağ is one of the Speakers of GalenDays’26 Resume 📑 After graduating from the Department of Biology at Middle East Technical University (METU), Assoc. Prof. Duygu Sağ completed her Ph.D. in Immunology in 2009 at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky, USA, where she was honored with the Dean’s Citation Award. Between 2009 and 2015, she conducted postdoctoral research specializing in cancer immunology at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology in California, USA. Currently, she is a faculty member in the Department of Medical Biology at Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Medicine and serves as the Principal Investigator of the Cancer Immunology Research Group at the Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Center (iBG). Dr. Sağ’s research focuses on the regulation of macrophage polarization in cancer and inflammatory diseases, with the ultimate aim of discovering novel therapeutic targets for immunotherapy. She has received numerous prestigious national and international awards, including the American Heart Association Fellowship, the L’Oréal–UNESCO International Rising Talents Award, the TÜBA-GEBIP Distinguished Young Scientist Award, the BAGEP Young Scientist Award, the METU Parlar Foundation Research Incentive Award, and the Prof. Dr. Işıl Berat Barlan Women in Science Award. Currently, she leads major research projects supported by the European Union Horizon Europe program and TÜBİTAK, while also driving impactful international science diplomacy efforts as an appointed member of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO.
