Major GDPR victory before German Federal Court of Justice for Latham & Watkins client SCHUFA Holding AG! Today, the Federal Court of Justice (FCJ) confirmed SCHUFA's data processing practices. A plaintiff claimed that our client had stored his personal data longer than permitted by the GDPR. The Cologne Court of Appeals (CoA) had confirmed this legal position and awarded the plaintiff compensation for immaterial damages under Art. 82 GDPR. Now the FJC overturned the ruling of the CoA and ruled in favor of our client. Many thanks to the great SCHUFA Holding AG legal team around Florian Reul, Lukas Neff, Dr. Julia Christine Jansen (geb. Pohl), Felix Sperling-Fröhlich as well as to the comms team around Robert von Heusinger & Tanja Panhans for this exemplary cooperation! And to our Latham & Watkins SCHUFA client team led by Dr. Wolf-Tassilo Böhm, supported by Thies Schmitte and many others, for an excellent job! And to Prof. Dr. Matthias Siegmann! https://lnkd.in/djWmNDCx FYI IAPP OneTrust DataGuidance Privacy + Security Academy Daniel Solove Paul Schwartz #teamdatenschutz Stiftung Datenschutz DATENSCHUTZ-BERATER ZD - Zeitschrift für Datenschutzrecht
