This apartment is located by the former entrance gate of a refurbished historic church: the 4 meter high church portal is the centrepiece of the living room. This desk, on the mezzanine, faces the gate and its shape corresponds with the pointed arch. Rather than filling up the angled outcrop of this mezzanine, the desk curves around the mirroring column, making it look light and spacious. By making the desk thinner towards the tip this effect is amplified.
