How can Germany secure a leading position in future technologies and boost its global competitiveness? Last week, #BCG and BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. presented our new study addressing exactly this question. As a co-author, I’m proud to have contributed to this important work. The opportunity is enormous: 💡 By 2030, Deep Tech could generate €8 trillion in value globally. 🔹 Yet today, less than 10% of global Deep Tech unicorns are European 🔹 About half of late-stage funding comes from outside the EU. 👉 To keep pace with the US and China, we must act boldly—now. I truly believe we can reinvent “Made in Germany” through AI, robotics, quantum technologies, and biotech. Perhaps we should pause from time to time and remember the pioneers of German science and technology — visionaries such as Carl Benz, Gottlieb Daimler, Wilhelm Röntgen, Konrad Zuse, Heinrich Hertz, Oskar von Miller, Werner von Siemens, Arthur Fischer, and many others — whose groundbreaking work continues to shape the world today and laid the foundation for our prosperity. Now it’s time to build on this legacy by adding new names — women and men who are writing the next chapter of innovation and progress. Or as BDI President Peter Leibinger put it: "Germany must shift from a mindset of 'playing not to lose' to one of 'playing to win.'" Let’s go, Germany. 🇩🇪 🔗 Find the full study here (in German only): https://lnkd.in/eRTWypwR Team BCG: Michael Brigl, Jonas Hiltrop, Dr. Patrick Herhold, Jan-Frederik Jerratsch, Martin Kleinhans, Lorenz Pammer, Geert-Jan Besjes, Ivan Tretiakov, Theresa Bender #Innovation #FutureOfIndustry #TechnologyLeadership
