Being a startup founder means sometimes you’ve got to be a little bold—and maybe a tad cheeky. So, when Paddy Cosgrave posted that photo of Pharrell rocking his shades 😎 , we couldn’t resist commenting in a “We wore it better.” fashion 😉 Just a bit of banter, right? For a bootstrapping start-up, every bit of brand marketing counts... Next, we went for it on the #WebSummitApp, and connected with Paddy Cosgrave (who actually accepted! 🙌 🫶 - Or his marketing intern did. Either way, what a nice personal touch!). Then, we booked a “meeting” via the app (which, let’s be real, will probably only ever be seen by his marketing assistant). But still, our excitement levels were through the roof. Because, guerrilla marketing is exactly this: - being #courageouslycreative - #executingit - closing your eyes, crossing your fingers 🤞 and #hopingyoumakeadent And I learned watching someone I admire, Dr. David von Rosen-von Hoewel - Founder of Lottoland who applied marketing tactics like these early on himself, i.e. by writing personalised notes to some of the richest people in Germany. They are now a market leader in online lottery! So for every bootstrapping founder out there—remember, it’s not always about the budget. Sometimes it’s about throwing yourself out there, embracing creative chaos, and hoping for a bit of magic.
