Data governance is supposed to direct and guide, while data management should execute and provide feedback. But here’s the thing: data is being managed with or without data governance, because it’s part of critical business operations. So when data governance is being introduced and applied in an authoritative and disruptive way, we really can’t blame data management for being defensive.
