Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2026 is officially on! #Throwback to Cannes Lions 2009 when the ‘Trillion Dollar’ campaign by TBWA\ South Africa\Hunt\Lascaris shelley smoler Nadja Lossgott Nicholas Hulley raphael basckin picked up 9 Cannes Lions including 1 Grand Prix in the Outdoor category, 5 Gold Lions and 1 Silver. The campaign for The #Zimbabwean newspaper became one of the most awarded campaigns in the history of South African advertising, winning Africa’s first D&AD Black Pencil and the first-ever Art Directors Club (ADC) Black Cube. In TIA CREATIVE STUDIO LTD's latest interview with Damon Stapleton, Chief Creative Officer at Droga5 ANZ, I asked Damon how a campaign from #Africa managed to have such a massive global impact: “The idea was incredibly simple. We used real Zimbabwean currency as media. No complicated technology. No elaborate production." "The lesson I still believe today is that when the idea is strong enough, everything else gets easier."
