You’ve considered moving to a smaller firm, but you aren’t sure how it compares to your current role and firm.   So what can you gain from considering a smaller Practice? - You’ll get a full study package but you won’t have the strict “exam fail” policy that some of the big firms do   - You’ll have a better chance of passing your exams, simply because you’ll have more time to revise for them   - Particularly with the bigger independents, you’ll still get to work on some large, interesting Audits. It’s not just the Big 4 that have the £50m + t/o clients   - The basic salaries with the independents aren’t quite as high as the Big 4 / Top 10, but you’ll probably have a better hourly rate   - There aren’t the promotion bottlenecks / cycles so you can progress at a pace that works for you
