Exciting news from Trondheim! Today marks the opening of the new central station, a huge step in creating a transit-oriented community that connects the city across the existing track area. As Mid-Norway’s largest station, it’s a game-changer for both transportation and urban development. The seamless integration of trains, bikes, buses, and boats into one seamless modern travel experience, complete with vibrant terminals and office spaces. The station's interior with wooden columns and wooden ceilings gives a warm Nordic feel and is completely in line with Trondheim's ambitions for sustainable development. It has been fantastic to follow the project since we drew the initial sketches for the Arkitema award-winning design to the opening day. I am extremely proud and grateful to all the partners involved in carrying out the project. The extremely complex project across tracks in operation, a corona shutdown in the middle of design development is just some of the things the team has overcome - the key has been respectful and open collaborative spirit. A massive thanks to all the partners involved, especially Bane NOR Eiendom for their commitment to sustainability and high ambitions. Let’s continue to shape a greener future together! Congrats, Norway! Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Veidekke, COWI, Sweco, Multiconsult, Norconsult, Vintervoll AS, GK, Asplan Viak AS, Aas-Jakobsen AS Photo credits: M. C. Herzog /visualis-images
