Bilateral calcaneal osteomyelitis – what to do? I’m happy to share our publication: “Bilateral Total Calcanectomy for Chronic Calcaneal Osteomyelitis: A Case Report”, published in Foot & Ankle Surgery: Techniques, Reports & Cases. Chronic, destructive calcaneal osteomyelitis can be very challenging. We describe a patient with bilateral destructive, polymicrobial calcaneal osteomyelitis treated with bilateral total calcanectomy. Management required a truly interdisciplinary approach, including close collaboration between surgeons, microbiologists, and orthopaedic technicians. Despite the complexity of the situation, the patient achieved a good functional outcome at 2-year follow-up.
