🚀 New Publication Alert! I'm thrilled to share that our new paper, "From Plasma Chemistry to Adhesion Strength," has just been published! This publication is a beefy piece of work and serves as a parting gift from my wonderful time at the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (FHNW). We set out to find the best way to bond fast-curing polyurea adhesives (PUA) to aluminum using atmospheric pressure plasma jets. The surprising takeaway? Pure plasma-polymerized APTES films actually outperform mixed aminosilane films, quadrupling the lap-shear strength! It turns out that once you have enough reactive surface amines, mechanical performance is limited by the cohesive strength of the plasma-polymer interphase itself, not just the interfacial chemistry. It was an absolute pleasure and a great success collaborating with the brilliant teams at Collano AG and Plasmatreat GmbH. We really did well on this one, and I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together!
