Throughout the summer, we’ll highlight student internships—a key part of the Jefferson experience. First up is finance major Leonell Aguilar, who’s interning at Braatz Wealth Advisors, a wealth management and financial planning firm in Marlton, N.J. Some of his responsibilities include researching financial topics, such as retirement accounts, pensions, Social Security and tax-efficient investment strategies; organizing client and seminar attendee data; and supporting the planning and execution of educational seminars for clients and prospective clients. “Combining school and the real world has given me a deeper understanding of wealth management, retirement planning, portfolio construction, investment analysis and client relationships,” says Aguilar, noting that the internship has built his networking skills as well. “This experience allows me to apply concepts from my finance coursework in a professional environment while gaining valuable exposure to the day-to-day operations of a wealth management firm.
