This morning focused on how design and innovation can better support women’s football, starting with one of its most overlooked spaces: the locker room. Leading voices from UEFA and HEAD – Genève, University of Art and Design came together to unpack a powerful, real-world project developed in the context of WEURO25: “How can we make existing grassroots football locker rooms more inclusive and welcoming for female players?” Ana Jelusic Black OLY lead the conversation with: Alyssa Lagonia (Women’s Football Development Coordinator, UEFA) Eliott Castille (Innovation Programmes Manager, UEFA) Simon Husslein (Professor of Interior Architecture, HEAD – Genève) Key themes that emerged: ✨Purpose-driven innovation: Aligning the WEURO25 innovation programme with long-term development goals for women’s football 🌐Cross-sector collaboration: Bringing together sport, design, and innovation expertise to co-create meaningful solutions 🔬User-centered research: Identifying barriers to comfortability, such as a lack of privacy and space that make current facilities inadequate.
