And don’t get me wrong, mentorship is beautiful! It’s the safe space, the conversation, and the "how-to." But if you want that next-level promotion? You need a sponsor. Here’s the breakdown: 👉 Mentors talk TO you. They give advice and share experiences. 👉 Sponsors talk ABOUT you. They put their reputation on the line to open doors you can’t even see yet. One is a conversation; the other is a career accelerator. I learned this the hard way: you can have all the "how-to" in the world, but without someone advocating for your name in those closed-door meetings, you’re just the best-kept secret in the company.
