Bio-Manguinhos /Fiocruz, a leading public health and biomedical research institution in Brazil, and Thermo Fisher Scientific have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to advance health innovation and explore opportunities for collaboration in biomedical research, diagnostics, vaccines and bioproduction. The agreement establishes a framework for scientific exchange, knowledge sharing and technical collaboration between Thermo Fisher and Fiocruz through its Institute of Immunobiological Technology (Bio-Manguinhos), supporting opportunities in technology development, workflow optimization, technology validation and workforce training. Attendees at the signing ceremony included representatives from Brazil’s Ministry of Health, including the Deputy Secretary of the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation; Priscila Ferraz, Vice President of Production and Health Innovation at Fiocruz; Rosane Cuber, Director of Bio-Manguinhos; and Daniella Cramp, Senior Vice President and President, BioProduction and Customer Excellence, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “This agreement with Thermo Fisher strengthens our ability to address complex health challenges through continuous innovation,” said Priscila Ferraz, Vice President of Production and Health Innovation at Fiocruz. “Through this technical and scientific collaboration, we aim to create new opportunities for the development of technologies that can benefit Brazil and the broader Latin American region.”
