A biobank is more than a storage facility. It is part of the foundation for precision medicine. As highlighted in Inside Precision Medicine, biobanks can help researchers connect patient samples with clinical and molecular data over time, making it possible to better understand disease, identify biomarkers and support more informed care. “Today’s biobanks have evolved far beyond sample storage,” said Yan Zhang, President of Proteomic Sciences at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “They are automated, digitally connected systems integrated with hospitals and health networks to ensure appropriate consent, longitudinal clinical context, and the ability to re-engage participants over time.” That evolution helps researchers move beyond individual studies to see broader patterns in how diseases develop, change over time, and affect different groups of people. Those insights can help speed research and bring more personalized care closer to reality. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ds54RdxQ
