Uwe Ziehl, entrepreneur, engineer, and long serving Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ZIEHL-ABEGG SE, passed away on June 6, 2026, at the age of 79. As the grandson of founder Emil Ziehl, he dedicated much of his life to the growth and long-term success of the family business. After completing his engineering studies, he founded ZIEHL industrie-elektronik GmbH + Co KG in 1967 and later played a pivotal role in transforming Ziehl-Abegg into a globally respected technology company specializing in ventilation, drive, and control technologies. One of his most significant achievements was bringing the family’s shareholdings together under a unified holding structure, strengthening the company’s independence and enabling continued investments in innovation, research, development, and manufacturing. From 2005 to 2020, he served as Chairman of the Supervisory Board, helping guide Ziehl-Abegg’s strategic direction with a strong focus on engineering excellence, quality, and sustainable growth.
