At the UK premiere of Mother Mary, Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel credited their intimacy coordinator Veniece Zuri for being responsible for allowing them to reach the “extraordinarily vulnerable places” that were required for the film. Intimacy coordinators are a relatively new role in film and TV, only widely being introduced to sets after the #MeToo movement, when actresses began to advocate for professional safeguards for their well-being on set.
