DOGE thought that that by cutting foreign aid it would make America more prosperous. In fact, the exact opposite is true. Viruses do not recognise borders, race, or wealth. They spread along the fault lines of our inequalities. We learned this lesson once before with COVID, and again with the recent deadly spread of Ebola. While the number of confirmed cases has thankfully dropped, it is only a matter of time before the next pandemic hits. On 22 June we will convene our second annual gathering 'Climate and the Future of Health" in partnership with Wellcome Trust where we will explore innovative solutions to the world's most pressing public health concerns.
