👩💻 In the era of AI, democratic culture needs an OS update On Friday, the Conduit Foundation held the first in a series of three events in Berlin aimed at building a “civic toolkit” that ensures citizens have the power and capacity to respond to the challenges of the tech era. We heard how disinformation is evolving faster than regulation. We debated whether AI will deepen division - or help rebuild trust. And we explored what it actually takes for citizens to stay informed, engaged and empowered. If we want to bridge the gap between how fast technology moves and how fast our institutions learn, what is now needed is a redesign: From neighbourhood data trusts to AI-assisted small claims courts, the solutions are there - we just need the courage to scale them. Participants were clear: this isn’t a tech crisis - we need to stop treating AI as an outside threat to democracy, and start seeing it as an actor within a struggling ecosystem where we re-empower that ecosystem with AI harnessed in the right way. We discussed that democracy is not just a set of values - it is a system. If we don't update the operating system, we risk missing an opportunity to rebuild democratic infrastructure for citizens as co-owners. Friday’s event was just the beginning: we’ll be back in Berlin in September and November to dive further into rebuilding the civic infrastructure. 👉 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eEGq7rVm Photos by Florian Kroll / Studio Kroll #CivicToolkit26 #DigitalLiteracy #AIforGood #FutureOfDemocracy #TheConduit
