He hit rock bottom before he reached the top. Once trapped in drug addiction and working as a daily wage labourer just to survive, Joseph H. Vanlalhruaia found himself at one of the lowest points of his life. Determined to reclaim his future, he made the life-changing decision to walk away from addiction and dedicate himself to Muay Thai. Every training session became a step towards rebuilding the life he thought he'd lost. Years of discipline, sacrifice and relentless hard work paid off in 2024, when the Mizo fighter created history by becoming the first Indian to win the WMO World Muay Thai Title. His winning streak didn't stop there. Joseph later defeated a ONE Championship fighter from Vietnam in Thailand, further cementing his place on the international stage. Today, he continues to inspire the next generation by training young athletes and giving back to his community, showing that every comeback starts with one courageous decision.
