Weekly Update: ➡️ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱'𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿?  Since 1987, the share of low-income economies has dropped from 30% to 11%. This year, six economies moved up to a higher income group, reflecting stronger growth, recovery, and updated data. The World Bank’s classifications cover 218 economies and help guide access to development financing worldwide. ➡️ 𝗜𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮, 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁. 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝘄 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸. South Asia’s employment gap is stark: only 59% of working-age people are employed and just one in three women works. Closing this gap could raise GDP per capita by up to 50%. The World Bank Group is investing in skills, agribusiness, and women’s entrepreneurship to help unlock that potential. ➡️ 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮'𝘀 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆. Africa’s transport system drives heavy fuel dependence, with about 80% of imported fuel used in road transport, where logistics costs can reach 45% of food prices.
