As energy security and affordability become increasingly urgent global priorities, the latest Tracking SDG 7: The Energy Progress Report shows that progress toward universal energy access is unevenβand in some regions, slowing down. ππ²π π³πΆπ»π±πΆπ»π΄π: β‘οΈ Global electricity access has stalled at 92% β‘οΈ More than 560 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa still lack electricity β‘οΈ Renewable energy now accounts for over 30% of global electricity consumption β‘οΈ Clean energy financing for developing countries reached $24.6 billion in 2024βbut remains far below what is needed β‘οΈ Without accelerated action, the world will fall short of achieving SDG 7 by 2030 To close the gap, countries and partners must scale up investment in renewable energy, expand affordable access solutions such as mini-grids and off-grid solar, strengthen energy efficiency, and ensure financing reaches the most vulnerable communities.
