A new study is raising important questions about how secure our digital content really is in the age of AI. UT San Antonio computer science professor Murtuza Jadliwala is part of a research team showing that widely available generative AI tools can remove advanced image protections using simple text prompts. The research highlights a growing gap between existing digital safeguards and the rapid capabilities of modern AI systems. As generative models become more powerful and accessible, protections designed to prevent copying, manipulation or unauthorized use of creative work may no longer hold up under real-world conditions. The findings showcase an urgent need to design and test defenses that can withstand today’s AI tools from the outset.
