The US Army spent $7 billion on a helicopter that never fought. The RAH-66 Comanche stealth helicopter had a radar signature smaller than a sparrow. Its carbon fiber body and internal weapons bay made it nearly invisible to enemy radar. Yet only two prototypes were built before the program was canceled. The Army wanted one rotorcraft to replace four different helicopters: the AH-1, OH-58, UH-1, and AH-64. They got a stealth marvel that never saw combat. The Comanche was too advanced, too expensive, and the wars changed. What's the most expensive military project you've seen canceled before it could prove itself?
