World's First Diamond Semiconductor Factory Completed in Japan, Targeting Nuclear Decommissioning. Ookuma Diamond Device has completed the world's first mass production diamond semiconductor facility in Okuma, Fukushima, with full scale operations targeted for fiscal 2028. Diamond chips, built on high purity synthetic diamond substrates, offer exceptional radiation resistance making them uniquely suited to the highly demanding task of removing melted nuclear fuel debris from the damaged Fukushima No. 1 reactors.
