More than 100 scientists from across Scripps Research came together for the institute’s inaugural AI Hackathon and Training Event, exploring how emerging technologies can help accelerate biomedical discovery. Over three days, 15 interdisciplinary teams developed projects spanning peer review, protein engineering, cryo-EM, single-cell biology, quantum computing and drug discovery, while participating in hands-on training focused on agentic AI and cloud computing. Organized by the Computational Biology & Bioinformatics affinity group (CBB) in partnership with AWS and teams across Scripps Research, the event provided researchers with hands-on access to agentic AI tools and cloud computing resources, enabling participants to build computational pipelines and test hypotheses at unprecedented speed. Congratulations to all participating teams, and special thanks to keynote speaker Jamie Williamson, judges Andrew Su, Stefano Forli and Megan Ken, our partners at Amazon Web Services (AWS), and the many researchers, organizers and staff across campus who made this event possible. We look forward to seeing what’s built next. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g-vxk3vh
