1977: In a welcome message in the Nautical Review Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh – soon to become the first Honorary Fellow – said that the maritime world had become more sophisticated and specialised. He added that the control of shipping and trade was the subject of technological, commercial, scientific and political activity.
