SickKids staff, patients and families came together on the front lawn this week in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day, which is recognized annually on June 21. Elder-in-Residence Grandmother Vivian and the Indigenous Health Program at SickKids led the ceremony, which featured elements of cultural significance such as strawberries, water and the four sacred medicines. The event also featured traditional drummers, song, dance and food, as well as a bustling market with Indigenous vendors. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis across Canada 🧡
