At SickKids, clinicians are seeing firsthand the impacts of digital environments on children and youth, including rising concerns related to mental health, safety and development.   That’s one of the reasons why a team of paediatric experts formed the SickKids Child Health Policy Accelerator, a team dedicated to using their insights from care to help shape policies that better protect and support children and youth.    Most recently, the Accelerator has been working with partners across Canada to advocate for policy solutions that protect children and youth online.  Today's introduction of the Safe Social Media Act from the Government of Canada reflects this team advocacy and leadership, with partners from across the country, and is an important step toward a more comprehensive, accountable and child-focused approach to digital safety.
