This shocking story out of Japan, about a young 🐢 rescued from Japanese waters with a belly full of plastic, is a sad and vivid reminder of the importance of our mission to eliminate plastic waste. After going weeks without eating, the turtle’s rescuers discovered something unusual in its excrement: plastic waste. Plastic shopping bags, food containers, and agricultural sheeting had been stuck in the turtle’s digestive tract, as sea turtles and other marine life often mistake plastic waste for their natural sources of food.
