Even under relentless missile and drone attacks in Kharkiv, health workers continue the vital but often unseen work of detecting and treating tuberculosis (TB) – helping protect millions from the world’s deadliest infectious disease. Without treatment, a single person with TB can infect up to 15 others in a year. Every diagnosis and every person started on treatment prevents further transmission, helping to contain outbreaks before they spread. With support from The Global Fund and partners, Ukraine has maintained its TB diagnostic capacity through a nationwide network of 224 laboratories equipped with modern diagnostic technologies – ensuring the people most affected by the war are diagnosed for TB and rapidly put on treatment.
