Ireland is right on track 🍀🚅 Last week a delegation of the German Railway Industry explored the Irish rail market at Rail Link Dublin and gained insights into the future of Ireland’s light, urban, and commuter rail at a networking event hosted by the National Transport Authority: 🚆Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail: The national rail strategy aims to modernize and expand the existing network. The focus is on increasing capacity & electrification, more frequent service & new stations, as well as strengthening the role of rail in regional transportation. 🚇MetroLink: The flagship project MetroLink marks the first fully automated metro system in Dublin, which is set to connect the airport with the city center every 20 minutes. 🚋Transport Infrastructure Ireland: While Dublin is experiencing strong growth, Cork is being developed as a second urban center. To this end, efforts are focused on expanding the network, building new stations, and electrifying the lines. A key future project is the construction of a new light rail network. The project is part of a comprehensive metropolitan strategy and is intended to support Cork’s growth in a sustainable manner. Ireland is entering a crucial phase in the expansion of its rail network—with several strategic programs that combine growth, climate goals, and urban development. The German railway industry looks forward to partnering with Ireland in delivering its rail vision, contributing decades of experience and expertise to support its successful realization.
