We were delighted to see the Future Leaders programme featured in manager magazin, the leading German business publication within the SPIEGEL-Gruppe in a recent article exploring how today's leaders prepare to make decisions under pressure. The article naturally focuses on our final modules at the Royal Military Academy with support from the Sandhurst Trust. They are an unforgettable part of the programme, providing participants with an opportunity to experience crisis leadership, structured decision-making and team leadership in an environment unlike any other. However, Sandhurst is just one part of a much broader leadership journey. Over ten months, participants develop their leadership across a wide range of disciplines, including strategy, finance, innovation, governance, communication, digital transformation and organisational leadership. They learn from experienced practitioners drawn from business, government, academia and the military, each bringing a different perspective on what effective leadership looks like in today's complex world. The Sandhurst experience is powerful not because it suggests business should be run like the military, but because it offers another valuable leadership lens. It challenges participants to think clearly under pressure, make decisions with incomplete information, lead ethically and put people at the centre of their thinking—principles that are just as relevant in business as they are in public service. We are particularly grateful to journalist Sascha Zastiral and photographer Ossi Piispanen, who immersed themselves in the programme for the full two days at Sandhurst. Their willingness to observe, question and experience the programme alongside our participants resulted in a thoughtful article and some truly outstanding photography. The feature also reflects the strength of the people behind the programme. It was wonderful to see contributions from Seumas Kerr CBE, who designed the Sandhurst experience, Richard Westley OBE MC, whose operational experience brings crisis leadership vividly to life, and programme participants and alumni including Vivek-Anand Dattani, Antonio Casola and Leo Koshutova, who shared their reflections on applying these lessons in the real world. And, of course, no Sandhurst experience would be complete without the unforgettable early-morning physical training sessions that challenge everyone before the day's leadership learning even begins! It is always rewarding when others recognise what makes the Future Leaders programme distinctive: not any single module, but the combination of perspectives, experiences and practical learning that helps leaders grow in confidence, judgement and impact.
