Evening dinner guests at The City Quantum and AI Summit were treated to a very insightful and thought-provoking NATO Conversation. The recording of the conversation between Professor James Bergeron, Political Advisor to the Commander, NATO Allied Maritime Command, and Rhys Roberts, Commercialisation and Adoption Advisor for the NATO DIANA Accelerator, is now available here: https://lnkd.in/gjA-48i8. Following Alderman & Sheriff Robert Hughes-Penney’s warm words of welcome on behalf of the City of London Corporation, Professor James Bergeron and Rhys Roberts explored the questions and challenges around what needs to be done to ensure that #innovation from the lab actually works in the #field. They discussed the risks posed by hybrid warfare and the key role #Quantum and #AI play and how these technologies could help bring about positive change not only in the #defence and but also in commercial, civilian markets. Given the geopolitical situation, the final question of the conversation was: “Are we behind time given the threat, are we pacing the threat? Where are we?”  Rhys Roberts conclusion was that a lot of effort has been put in and the current rate of innovation is tremendous. However, more needs to be done. We need to get better at accelerating technology and supporting companies / start-ups through their journey.
