#UsdanPetTips Not all dogs are natural swimmers, and even strong swimmers can panic or struggle to find their way out of the water. As pool season gets underway, a few simple precautions can help prevent a serious emergency. If your dog will be spending time around a pool this summer: šŸ’§ Never leave them unattended near the water. 🚫 Never throw or force a dog into the water. Not all dogs enjoy swimming, and a frightening experience can increase the risk of panic and injury. 🦺 Use a properly fitted life jacket for inexperienced swimmers, senior dogs, or flat-faced breeds. šŸ• Teach your dog where the steps, ramp, or other exit points are and practice helping them find their way out. 🚿 Rinse chlorine off after swimming and provide plenty of fresh drinking water. Additional safety measures, such as pool fences, alarms, ramps, and canine-friendly docks, can provide an extra layer of protection.
