💻 Adding Fuel to the Fire: AI Information Threats and Crisis Events AI has enhanced information threats during and after crisis events in recent years, from violent riots to terror attacks. Researchers from the Turing’s Centre for Emerging Technology and Security (CETaS) have examined the weaponisation of AI in these volatile moments in a new report supported by the AI Security Institute, and explore how AI tools could be used to strengthen future crisis response approaches. ⬇️ Read the report from the Turing’s Sam Stockwell, Ardi Janjeva and Broderick McDonald or download here: https://lnkd.in/eHnJbJu2 Sam Stockwell, Senior Research Associate, said: "Crisis events are unpredictable and volatile scenarios. Combined with a poorly understood AI threat landscape, this means that we are not currently equipped to deal with this growing threat to public safety. Yet while we need to address the critical risks associated with AI tools in this context, we must also recognise that the same technology can help to strengthen democratic resilience in times of crisis. "Actioning the recommendations outlined in this report will go a long way in demonstrating that the UK can protect the public against these threats in the event of future AI-driven incidents.”
