Our Mission Director for Environmental Forecasting, Dr Scott Hosking, spoke at the official launch of the Zenith AI supercomputer yesterday at the University of Cambridge   Scott shared how our researchers are using Zenith, which is funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), to improve environmental forecasting. Sea ice forecasting supports safe maritime navigation, helps track wildlife migration across and beneath the ice, and strengthens understanding of the climate systems that shape weather across the Northern Hemisphere.   IceNet, our pan-Arctic sea ice forecasting system in collaboration with the British Antarctic Survey and UiT- The Arctic University of Norway, can already outperform traditional models months ahead.
