CEO | Biotech & Pharma Executive | Building Enduring Companies in Service of Patients

“Is this the best you can do?” That question was asked of me just weeks into joining CureVac—right after I led a major reorganization. The team looked unconventional. Some questioned the path. Some were frustrated. Change rarely feels comfortable at the beginning. But if you build a bold vision, set clear priorities, and earn trust, a group of individuals can become a high-performance unit. And that is what happened. A new team was born - Made in #Germany! We became #DealTeam6. Sometimes #Dealta_Force. Not as a joke — but as a reminder of who we were becoming. Identity drives behavior. Belief drives endurance. Bending time to deliver what should take three years, in one. There were days (and nights) when the sun set…and then rose again…with us still in the same seats, same clothes, same conversation thread — still pushing — because the mission mattered. There are photos from 6pm and 6am that look almost identical. Only the light changed. No shortcuts. No excuses. No giving up. That’s biotech. And that’s what it takes to deliver something the market calls “impossible.” Together, we executed one of the most complex biotech transactions in recent European history. It was good, finally, at #BioEurope2025, to talk about more than the #BioNTech + #CureVac transaction — even as we continue the disciplined march toward closing. Two frameworks that shaped this journey: • Bargaining for Advantage — preparation + principle • Trust — the currency of high-performance cultures Trust first. Vision second. Relentless execution third. #DealTeam6, #Dealta_Force — always! #Leadership #Biotech #DealTeam6 #DealtaForce #Execution #Resilience #Negotiation #Trust #MergersAndAcquisitions #BioEurope #BetterTogether Dr. Marco Rau, Marcus Cano
