🛰️ Three models, one mission: Important advancements are shaping the future of the Galileo Second Generation Satellites The #Galileo Second Generation program, meant to improve the current Galileo system thanks to its advanced technologies, is moving forward at pace. Including to date a total of 12 satellites, of which six developed by Thales Alenia Space for the European Space Agency, the upgraded Galileo Second Generation satellites will provide even more robust and reliable PNT services. We are successfully advancing through key stages with three key models - Engineering Model (EM), Proto-Flight Model (PFM), and Flight Model 2 (FM2) - each making significant strides in their respective development and integration phases. The Engineering Model remains fully engaged in system level testing, providing critical validation and essential support to the program. Meanwhile, the Proto-Flight Model is progressing steadily in its Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) campaign, with the completion of Propulsion Subsystem assembly and the integration of its navigation payload. The Flight Model 2 has also achieved a major milestone: its entry into our clean rooms marks the official beginning of the production activities for the first Flight Set of the new constellation. Alongside with these accomplishments, a particularly meaningful achievement is the successful completion of the Launch Site Survey at the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana - the designated launch site for Galileo. This event coordinated the launch operations and defined the security protocols for the simultaneous processing of the first two satellites of Ariane 62, paving the way for the upcoming launch campaigns. These results are the outcome of outstanding teamwork, dedication, and close collaboration with European Space Agency - ESA and EUSPA - EU Agency for the Space Programme teams. It marks a shared success that reflects the commitment and passion, key drivers of the program success. Our journey continues, and we look forward to reaching the next ambitious milestones together.
