Researchers from the Texas A&M University Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine have been awarded over $6 million from the The National Institutes of Health to research how addiction impacts the brain’s ability to adapt, decide and solve problems. The funding will help study how alcohol and cocaine affect cognitive flexibility that allows us to make decisions and switch tasks. The ultimate goal? Smarter strategies for treating substance use disorders. Congratulations to Dr. Jun Wang and his team! We look forward to learning the impacts of this research. tx.ag/WangNIH26
