A private label brand earns its place in the cart when its design instinctively grabs attention, fulfills a need and signals quality. Test Rite has built private brands for the world's leading retailers since 1978, and the brands that succeed are the ones designed around the consumer first, what the product needs to do, how it is used, and what makes a buyer choose one option over another at the shelf. Test Rite's design and engineering teams start with market-validated consumer insights, then work backward through materials, manufacturability, and costs, so that a brand carries a visual identity a consumer can recognize across an entire product line. In 2017, Test Rite developed the hexagonal socket shape at the center of a national retailer's new tool brand, a design now applied to every tool in the line. The brand is identifiable from the shape alone. That brand has grown into a $1.5 billion brand at the retailer.
