An estimated 407 billion packages were shipped worldwide in 2025 (Estimate based on Pitney Bowes Parcel Shipping Index). That’s why regulations like the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) are pushing companies to rethink packaging choices from materials and labeling to what happens at end of life. So what does “PPWR-ready” look like in real operations? At RS Group’s distribution center in Bad Hersfeld, that discussion is very practical: about 20,000 parcels leave the site every single day and up to 45,000 orders are being processed. At that scale, processes have to be fast and reliable but sustainability targets still apply. In 2025, RS and tesa – strategic partners for around 15 years – intensified their collaboration to rethink how carton sealing could be improved for high-volume shipping. ➡️ The result: a transit-carton sealing solution designed for strong bonding performance while reducing environmental impact. ➡️ Different building blocks come into play, including PLA from renewable sources, post-consumer recycled content (e.g., rPET), and FSC®-certified paper-based solutions (FSC® C148769). ➡️ The paper-based solutions can be recycled together with cardboard, without having to separate materials first. 👉 The full story is in the first comment. #Sustainability #Packaging #PPWR #CircularEconomy #Innovation #AdhesiveTechnology
