A strong signal for the green gas transition and we're proud to be part of it. Today, a broad coalition of 21 companies and associations spanning the entire value chain from producers to grid operators published an open letter in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung backing the German government's plan to introduce a green gas quota. 🇩🇪 TES is a signatory. 👉 The green gas quota, announced as part of the Building Modernisation Act (GMG), creates the market-based framework that the industry has been calling for, without burdening the federal budget. For the first time, a mandatory share of green gases will be required in the natural gas network. Just as green electrons are already mandated in the electricity grid, green molecules will now become mandatory too. This sends a clear investment signal to producers of hydrogen, biomethane, and synthetic methane, and opens the door to large-scale imports, including from Ukraine. To make this framework truly effective, ambition matters. The overall quota should be complemented by a dedicated sub-quota for RFNBOs, electrolytically produced green energy carriers like green hydrogen and e-methane, to provide additional support for their market ramp-up. Our conviction: sufficient volumes of green gases can be available soon, and at affordable prices, if the regulatory framework is designed with ambition and reliability. The first step has been taken. Now swift parliamentary implementation is what counts. The next phase of the energy transition is about the greening of molecules. At TES, that is exactly what we are building for. 🤝 Together with our fellow signatories: biogeen GmbH DAH Gruppe DVGW CERT GmbH Dortmunder Energie- und Wasserversorgung GmbH (DEW21) DIE GAS- UND WASSERSTOFFWIRTSCHAFT e.V.
