Last night was graduation day of Year 2025 L'École de design Nantes Atlantique 🎉 
And once again, I was reminded why teaching is never just teaching. I met many of these students when they were 18 - fresh out of secondary school, just turned major, thought they were adults 🤭 and very convinced that English presentations were a form of torture. Yes - those legendary first presentations - you know, the ones with too few slides but too many texts and a death grip on the podium 😅 And then there was the theatre project. The one that always comes back in our conversations. The one they still mention as “the best memory of the degree.” Unexpected talents, unforgettable accents, nervous laughter, standing ovations from classmates — and a lot, a lot of fun. English stopped being a subject and became a stage. Right after that came the dreaded Pecha Kucha presentation. 20 slides. 20 seconds each. No notes. No mercy. Pure panic at first ☠️ A true exercise in controlled chaos — racing against the timer, learning (sometimes the hard way) that you can’t say everything, and discovering that confidence is often just surviving slide 17 without passing out. Terrifying… and somehow, in retrospect, hilarious. Fast forward to today:
They’re graduating.
They’ve changed, matured…and probably grown a big moustache….
And somehow, they’re now confidently defending their thesis — with arguments, structure, and confidence. Watching that transformation never gets old. It’s emotional. It’s moving. And it’s always a little surreal to realise that the students who once asked “Madame, can I read my 3-page text?” are now stepping into the world as graduates. Proud of them 🤩 Congratulations to each and every one of them on this incredible milestone. Wherever their paths lead, I hope they carry with them the memories, the laughter, and the belief that they are more capable than they ever imagined.
