🚑❤️ First Aid Workshop Initiative ❤️🚑 In Maryland, CPR and AED training are the only forms of first aid education required for high school graduation. However, Prince George’s County also has the third highest rates of opioid overdoses in the state, and EMS response times in the county are only increasing. Youth emergency preparedness is key for combating this disparity and preventing deaths. ✨ Our Progress Our first aid workshop initiative seeks to bring free, accessible first aid training to K-12 students in Prince George’s County. On April 16, we piloted a hands-on training at the Hyattsville Branch Library with 37 teens from the Teen Action Group. Together, we covered essential, lifesaving skills: CPR, AED use, opioid overdose response with Naloxone 💉, and bleeding control using tourniquets.🩸 🤝 Partnerships That Make It Possible A huge thank you to the Prince George’s County Fire Department 🚒 for partnering with us and sending a team member equipped with manikins to lead the CPR and AED training. Their expertise truly made a lasting impression. 📊 The Impact What stood out most was the level of engagement. Participants didn’t just learn—they practiced, asked questions, and built real confidence in their ability to respond in emergencies. 💚 Looking Ahead We are excited to keep growing this effort and equip even more young people with these life-saving skills. Thank you! #FirstAid #CPRTraining #CommunityImpact #YouthEmpowerment #PublicHealth #EmergencyPreparedness
