𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐚π₯ π–π¨π¦πžπ§β€™π¬ πƒπšπ² 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 π–π¨π¦πžπ§ π…πšπ«π¦πžπ«π¬ On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a special programme for women farmers and members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) was organised on 8 March 2026 at VP Poinguinim, Canacona, South Goa, bringing together around 150 women participants from the region. The programme was organised by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in association with the Village Panchayat Poinguinim, with support from the NABARD - National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development. The event featured the launch of the Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) formation cluster for beekeeping in Canacona, aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods and strengthening local value chains. An expert talk on the theme β€œGive to Gain” highlighted the importance of collaboration and collective action in community development. The programme was graced by Chief Guest Mr Ramesh Tawadkar, Minister for Tribal Welfare, Sports & Youth Affairs, and Art & Culture. The Guest of Honour was Smt. Savita R Tawadkar, Sarpanch of VP Poinguinim. Several distinguished representatives from government, development institutions, and the private sector attended the event, including officials from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Directorate of Agriculture, Goa, the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), and the World Trade Center Goa. Mr Santosh Gad, Associate Fellow, TERI, welcomed the participants and presented updates on theΒ FPO formation and the honey cluster initiative in the tribal areas of Canacona. During the programme,Β women engaged in the agriculture and fisheries sectors were felicitatedΒ in recognition of their valuable contributions and achievements in strengthening local livelihoods.
